The Senate will indeed pass a resolution blocking President Trump's border emergency declaration, Mitch McConnell said Monday, days after Rand Paul's support of the House-passed resolution pushed the chamber to the 51 votes it would need to also pass it. The Senate majority leader's acknowledgment "underscore[s] his inability to shield the president from a bipartisan rebuke," notes Politico, though McConnell added that he does not expect the resolution to survive a presidential veto: "What is clear in the Senate is that there will be enough votes to pass the resolution of disapproval, which will then be vetoed by the president and then in all likelihood the veto will be upheld in the House," he said, per the AP.
