Alex Trebek's recent sad news that he has late-stage pancreatic cancer has prompted a somewhat more uplifting development: all of his fans letting him know that they're pulling for him. In a short video posted Thursday to the official Jeopardy! Twitter account, accompanied by the caption "thank you," the show's host expressed his gratitude for all of the support, ET Online reports. Trebek said "hundreds of thousands of people"—and even Watson, the IBM computer that once competed on Jeopardy!—have reached out to him online, via email, and through snail mail.
And if you're one of those who sent Trebek a message, he's either seen it or will soon. "I do read everything I receive," the 78-year-old notes. "I am thankful for the kind words, the prayers, and the advice you have offered." He says he's been "extremely touched" by it all, adding, "I'm a lucky guy." His rep confirms to Fox News he's returned to work. (More Alex Trebek stories.)
