Here's What Kellyanne Has to Say About Hubby's Trump Spat

The Conway marriage saga continues: On Thursday, Kellyanne Conway went on Fox Business, where the White House adviser took issue with her husband's very public criticism of her boss, President Trump. "My husband ... has been very critical of the president publicly, which is unlike him," she said, per Mediaite. "He’s traditionally been a very private person. In 2016, which was known as the year of the tweet, George Conway sent exactly zero tweets. So this is new. And what also is new is not supporting the agenda of the president and my work there." She pointed out that when George turned down a job at the Justice Department two years ago, he put out a statement declaring his support for the president. She went on to say she appreciates Trump defending her amid his spat with her husband, but added, "I was raised in a household of strong Italian Catholic women that taught me you air grievances like that in private, so it is very surprising to see it be so public."

She talked about her family making the decision together to move to DC for her job, and said that ultimately, "I don't talk much about this publicly because my first duty is and will always be the protection of" the couple's four children. "But does your husband know that?" host Maria Bartiromo asked. Conway deferred questions about George to George himself, but noted, "I think the media is getting into a very dangerous area ... in discussing people's marriages." On Wednesday, she had taken the president's side a bit more explicitly, telling Politico that for months Trump ignored her husband's attacks "out of respect for me," but asked, "you think he shouldn’t respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder? You think he should just take that sitting down?" (To get caught up on the George Conway-Trump spat: Conway called Trump mentally ill, Trump called Conway a "total loser," Conway fired off a bunch of tweets in response.)
