It's hard to call something a Twitter "feud" when only one side is frenetically tweeting insults. So let's just say Alessandra Mussolini—granddaughter of Benito Mussolini—was having an online monologue of sorts on Sunday, directed at Jim Carrey after the actor posted a cartoon he'd drawn of her late dictator grandfather, per Slate. "If you're wondering what fascism leads to, just ask Benito Mussolini and his mistress Claretta," Carrey wrote under a drawing that depicted those two hanging upside down after they were shot to death in April 1945. That initial tweet elicited a curt response from the younger Mussolini: "You are a bastard."

But Mussolini, 56, wasn't done, firing off suggestions for other subjects Carrey could draw—namely (implied from the images she posted) the US decision to use the atomic bomb, the genocide of Native Americans, slavery, and racial segregation. Others online also jumped into the fray, including one commenter who replied to one of her barbs to point out that Carrey is Canadian (though he did also become a US citizen in 2004). Mussolini—a member of the European Parliament and also the niece of Sophia Loren—responded to dozens of those tweets as well. Slate notes Mussolini has addressed people posting disparaging things about her grandfather before, including an October tweet in which she said she'd contact the police on any "politically correct" insulters.
