The fire at Notre Dame cathedral has led to a surge in popularity of Victor Hugo's 1831 novel centered there. The Hunchback of Notre Dame, known as as Notre-Dame de Paris in French, now sits atop the Amazon best-seller list in France, reports HuffPost. In fact, two different editions of the book were in the 1-2 spots, and six of the top 10 spots were occupied by different editions, notes the Independent. The love story between bell ringer Quasimodo and Esmeralda doubles as a tribute to the cathedral, and Vox highlights a passage illustrating that. "Great edifices, like great mountains, are the work of centuries," it begins. (Billionaires are stepping up to fund the cathedral's rebuilding.)
