President Trump renewed his criticism of the late John McCain on Thursday, telling Sean Hannity of Fox News that McCain "did the nation a tremendous disservice" when he voted against a Republican bill to repeal ObamaCare in 2017. "John McCain, at the very last moment, late in the evening, went thumbs-down and everybody said, 'What was that?'" he said, per USA Today. "I thought it was a disgraceful thing to do and very, very bad for our country and bad for health care." Trump has continued to criticize McCain after his death, despite objections from members of his own party, including Sens. Mitt Romney and Joni Ernst.
Trump told Hannity that he still intended to change the nation's health care system, but that it would have to wait. "We're going to do things that nobody has ever seen on health care, but we have to get back the House," he said, per the Hill. Meanwhile, widow Cindy McCain disputed reports she would break with the GOP and endorse Joe Biden in the 2020 race. "Joe Biden is a wonderful man and dear friend of the McCain Family," she wrote. "However, I have no intention of getting involved in presidential politics." (More President Trump stories.)
