A Florida man stepped out his truck, slipped on a piece of construction debris, and shot and killed his longtime friend Wednesday. The unidentified male "was transitioning the gun from his waistband [to] his pocket" when he says it unintentionally fired as he slipped, a rep for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office tells NBC News. The incident happened in the Tampa suburb of Riverview around 1:45pm.

A 44-year-old friend and fellow construction worker was hit as he worked on the roof of a home that was being remodeled. He was just 10 feet from the shooter's son, who was also working on the roof at the time, per WFLA. He later died at a hospital. The shooter—whom a neighbor describes as having "an anxiety attack afterwards," per WFTS—is fully cooperating with authorities. They have yet to say whether charges will be filed.
