The two people arrested in connection with Jennifer Dulos' May 24 disappearance are no strangers to the Connecticut mother of five. One is a man she married in 2004. The other is a woman he'd reportedly been having an affair with for about a year before Dulos learned of the relationship in March 2017, reports the New York Times. Court documents reveal chaos over the next two years as Dulos and her husband engaged in a bitter divorce and custody battle. Jennifer Dulos said she was concerned by Fotis Dulos' "irrational, unsafe, bullying, threatening and controlling behavior," claiming he'd threatened to kidnap the children and take them out of the country. She also feared he might harm her with a recently purchased handgun. She accused him of once driving an SUV toward her, swerving away just in time.

Claiming the gun was purchased for the family's protection, Fotis Dulos countered that his wife had threatened to have the mafia break his legs. He denied threats of kidnapping, saying it was Jennifer who'd run away with the children to New Canaan, some 70 miles from their home in the Hartford suburb of Farmington. State police searched the property—listed for sale at $4.35 million—on Wednesday, following searches at a nearby trash facility, reports the Stamford Advocate. Police say Fotis Dulos and girlfriend Michelle Troconis were captured on video dumping trash bags; items stained with Jennifer's blood were allegedly inside. Troconis has posted bail, while Fotis Dulos is being held on a $500,000 bond. Jennifer's 85-year-old mother has requested custody of the children currently in her care. (Police believe Jennifer was assaulted at her home.)
