The NHL doled out its annual awards this week, and one in particular goes beyond hockey. It features 11-year-old Anderson Whitehead and Montreal Canadiens' goaltender Carey Price, reports the CBC. The boy's mother died of cancer last year before fulfilling her promise to arrange a meeting between Anderson and his idol, Price. After her death, Anderson's aunt followed up, and Price not only met the boy in February, he gave him a hug as the boy broke down. You can see that moment via this USA Today video. It was voted the "Feel Good Moment of the Year," which brings us to the Wednesday night award show.

The NHL brought Anderson on stage during the show and had Price on a screen behind him sending his greetings. Supposedly, Price couldn't be there in person. Then Price stopped the video greeting and surprised Anderson by coming out on stage to present him with a jersey. You can hear Price telling Anderson, "Everything's OK" as the boy struggles to stop crying and the crowd stands and applauds. You can see the moment here. (More NHL stories.)
