YouTube star Etika was last heard from Wednesday night when he posted a since-deleted video to one of his channels that appeared to express suicidal thoughts. On Monday, the 29-year-old's body was pulled from New York's East River, CNN reports. A backpack and phone believed to have belonged to him had been found on the Manhattan Bridge Sunday. Etika, whose real name was Desmond Amofah, vlogged about video games and had more than 800,000 YouTube followers. He had also tweeted about suicide in April, raising concerns among his fans, per ETOnline. Vox has an extensive look at Etika's troubling and erratic behavior in recent months, including anti-Semitic and homophobic content that got him banned from live-streaming platform Twitch, and notes that he had received mental health treatment on at least two occasions since last year. (Another YouTube star took her life at age 33.)
