Savannah Spurlock disappeared in January, just a month after giving birth to twins. Now, human remains have been found and an arrest has been made in connection with the search for the missing Kentucky mother of four, 14 News reports. Police say David Sparks was booked into jail Thursday, charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. The remains, which have not yet been identified, were found Wednesday night at a property in Garrard County that police say belongs to Sparks' family, per CNN. Search teams had previously been deployed to the same address in the first weeks after Spurlock vanished; police have said the property belongs to the parents of one of the three people believed to have been with Spurlock when she was last seen.

Police say someone on the property called them to report smelling a foul odor, LEX 18 reports. That, coupled with the fact that Sparks "is the primary suspect in a missing persons investigation" according to a Kentucky State Police arrest citation obtained by WKYT, is what led to the remains being found buried behind the home. They also found items belonging to Spurlock and other evidence. "These items were last known to be in the control of only two individuals, the missing person, and [Sparks]," the citation says. Both Sparks and Spurlock are in their early 20s. (Spurlock was last seen after heading from a bar to a home with a group of men.)
