Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino is out of prison after serving eight months for tax evasion. The Jersey Shore star, 37, was released from New York's Otisville Federal Correctional Institution Thursday morning, People and TMZ report. "We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life. Thank you to our family, friends, and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort," Sorrentino and his wife, Lauren, said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations! We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can't wait to show the world ours." Sorrentino got married not long before heading to prison.

Sorrentino pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in January 2018, years after he and brother Marc were indicted in September 2014 for allegedly failing to properly pay taxes on $8.9 million in income between 2010 and 2012. They were indicted on additional charges in April 2017. Marc ended up pleading guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of a false and fraudulent tax return. In addition to his prison stint, "Sitch" was ordered to pay $123,913 in restitution, cough up a $10,000 fine, and complete 500 hours of community service. Jersey Shore is still a thing, with its marriage-and-kids spinoff, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, currently airing on MTV. On a recent episode, Vinny Guadagnino and Pauly "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio visited Sorrentino in prison, and TMZ's sources say cast members were planning to welcome Sorrentino home after his release.
