The stock market opened in milestone fashion Monday morning—the Dow quickly rose 138 points to hit an intraday high of 27,486, reports the Wall Street Journal. If this holds up, the Dow would post its first record close since July 15, notes MarketWatch. The Nasdaq and S&P 500, meanwhile, closed at record highs on Friday and also were on the rise Monday. It's possible all three major indexes could close with records on the same day, something else that hasn't happened since July. Both the Journal and MarketWatch note that a main driver appears to be investors' belief that trade tensions between the US and China are on the decline. The Journal notes that bank and energy shares also were strong. (More stock market stories.)
