Two witnesses will appear Thursday at what will be this week's final impeachment inquiry hearing—and possibly the final hearing before things move to the next stage. National Security Council official Fiona Hill, who was the White House's top expert on Russia, is expected to testify about her own concerns about the Rudy Giuliani-led "shadow foreign policy" on Ukraine as well as those of her then-boss, John Bolton, reports the Guardian. She testified last month that Bolton, who has not testified, thought Trump's attorney was a "hand grenade who's going to blow everybody up." She will testify alongside David Holmes, a top staffer at the American embassy in Ukraine. Hill has said she started receiving death threats after people found out she was cooperating with the impeachment inquiry.

Holmes is expected to deliver testimony adding to evidence that President Trump sought a quid pro quo for military aid to Ukraine, the Washington Post reports. He has said he overheard a phone call between Trump and US ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland in which Trump asked about "investigations." Holmes has also said Ukrainians "gradually came to understand that they were being asked to do something in exchange" for military aid and a meeting between their president and Trump. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff has not said whether this will be the final hearing, NPR reports. When his panel finishes its work, the House Judiciary Committee will consider drafting articles of impeachment. (More Trump impeachment stories.)
