The skies put on a dazzling show Thursday, though you had to be in the right part of the world to see it live. An annular solar eclipse—known as a "ring of fire" because the moon covers the sun's center but not its edges—could be seen in nations including Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Saudi Arabia, reports the BBC. "How amazing," declared a resident in Bande Aceh province in Indonesia, where authorities provided telescopes and safety glasses, per the AP. The next "ring of fire" won't arrive until June 2020, notes CNN. (More solar eclipse stories.)
