New year, new you—and if that revamped version of yourself includes seeking out a change in employer, WalletHub has some suggestions on where you might want to look. The site examined more than 180 major US cities, looking at more than 30 metrics in two main categories: a city's overall job market, which includes such factors as work opportunities, average starting salary, job security, and unemployment rate; and a city's socioeconomics, which notes such things as average commuting time, how affordable housing is, and median annual income. Showing up at the top of the list is Scottsdale, Ariz., but there are plenty of other options if the desert heat isn't for you. Read on for more cities in the top 10:

  1. Scottsdale, Ariz.
  2. South Burlington, Vt. (No. 1 in the "Job Market" category)
  3. San Francisco
  4. Austin, Texas
  5. Fremont, Calif.
  6. Chandler, Ariz.
  7. Boston
  8. Tempe, Ariz.
  9. Portland, Maine
  10. Boise, Idaho
