Onto the Senate. The House on Wednesday voted to send two articles of impeachment to the Senate, clearing the way for its delayed trial to begin. The move came after Nancy Pelosi chose seven Democratic members of the House to act as impeachment managers. The articles of impeachment against President Trump will be formally delivered to the secretary of the Senate later Wednesday afternoon, reports the Washington Post. The House vote was 228-193, and C-SPAN has video of the debate and vote.
Earlier Wednesday, Pelosi named seven Democrats to present the House case before the Senate, including Adam Schiff (head of the Intelligence Committee) and Jerry Nadler (head of the Judiciary Committee), reports the Hill. The others are Hakeem Jeffries of New York, Sylvia Garcia of Texas, Val Demings of Florida, Zoe Lofgren of California, and Jason Crow of Colorado. During the Senate trial, Trump will be represented by a defense team expected to be led by White House counsel Pat Cipollone. (More Trump impeachment stories.)
