An Indiana man was "play wrestling" with his 4-year-old son Thursday when a handgun went off and shot the boy in the head, People reports. Police say the gun, a Glock semi-automatic, was tucked in dad's pants. Tyler Shaw and son Tripp were rushed to hospitals in and around Indianapolis with head wounds, but while Tyler is recovering, Tripp "passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him most," says a GoFundMe page established for the family. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating, but no criminal charges have been filed. The Indy Star notes that state law could make felony criminal recklessness an option for prosecutors.

In another handgun incident, a West Texas man says police kicked in his door and shot his 16-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. Luis Gomez tells KOSA that officers barged in Wednesday morning, shooting his son in the arm and girl in the back. "She's in a lot of pain," Gomez says of his daughter. "She just won't stop crying, she's shaking. She just keeps screaming every five minutes." According to Gomez, his son had "an object in his hand" and "they just opened fire on him." He admits police have found drugs on his Midland property before and says his son is in juvenile detention. He also says officers blamed his son for the incident, telling him, "It's your fault she got shot. This is all your fault." The Texas Rangers are yet to comment. (More shooting stories.)
