Natalie Portman used her cape to send a message to the Academy on the red carpet at this year's Oscars. Portman—who presented the award for best adapted screenplay to Jojo Rabbit—had the names of female directors not nominated by the Academy embroidered in gold on the left lapel, People reports. They included Hustlers director Lorene Scafaria, The Farewell director Lulu Wang, and Greta Gerwig, whose Little Women had six other nominations. No women were nominated this year for the best director award, which went to Parasite director Bong Joon-ho. "I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in my subtle way," Portman told the Los Angeles Times. (Here are this year's Oscar winners.)
