3 Relatives Arrested After Girl, 11, Gives Birth
Norvin Lopez-Cante.   (St. Charles County Jail)

After a couple brought a baby with the umbilical cord still attached to a Missouri hospital last week, claiming they had found the newborn on their porch, police soon uncovered the disturbing truth. At their home in suburban St. Louis, police found an 11-year-old girl who had given birth in a bathtub, USA Today reports. Three of her relatives were arrested, including the couple who brought the baby to the hospital and 17-year-old Norvin L. Lopez-Cante. Police say the teen admitted sexually assaulting his relative more than 100 times, the St. Louis-Dispatch reports.

The teen has been charged with incest, statutory rape, and statutory sodomy of a child, according to court documents. Lesbia Cante and Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Lopez have been charged with child endangerment. Cante has also been charged with failing to provide medical care for the birth. According to court documents, Gonzalez-Lopez told police that he didn't know that Lopez-Cante, his son, was raping the girl, or that she was pregnant, KSDK reports. Lopez-Cante told investigators that he had been having sex with the girl around twice a week. He also claimed not to have known she was pregnant. (More Missouri stories.)
