Yet another big festival is changing its plans due to the coronavirus outbreak: The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival confirms this year's event will be rescheduled thanks to COVID-19 fears. The event, which draws about 100,000 attendees each day it runs, was originally scheduled for the weekends of April 10-12 and April 17-19, with country music's Stagecoach festival following the weekend of April 24-26. They will now take place the weekends of Oct. 9-11, 16-18, and 23-25, CNN reports. It's not clear whether the original headliners would still participate. All tickets will be honored for the new dates, or ticket purchasers can get a refund if they are now unable to attend.
"At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns,” concert promoter Goldenvoice said in a statement. “While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials." The AP notes a case of the virus has been confirmed in the Coachella Valley. Also Tuesday, the New York Auto Show announced it will be postponed from its originally planned April date, CNN reports. (More coronavirus stories.)
