Five employees were shot at a Minnesota health clinic on Tuesday, and a 67-year-old man was taken into custody afterward, police say. The shootings happened at the Allina clinic in Buffalo, a city of about 15,000 people roughly 40 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Authorities say local man Gregory Paul Ulrich, who has a history of conflict with area clinics, was taken into custody, the AP reports. "It's a history that spans several years and there certainly is a history of him being unhappy with the health care that he received," said Buffalo Police Chief Pat Budke, per KARE11. Authorities initially described the victims as patients, but Allina later said that all five were clinic employees.
Budke said the shooting appears to be an "isolated incident" and there is "no information at this time that leads us to believe that there is any nexus with domestic terrorism." Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz said "some improvised explosive devices" were found at the scene. The FBI and the ATF were among the agencies that responded, the Star Tribune reports. Authorities have not disclosed the conditions of the five injured employees. According to police audio, one of them is a woman with three gunshot wounds.
