Two Monday shootings with multiple casualties are making headlines, one that left three dead—including a police officer—in suburban Denver, and another that left three dead and four injured in St. Louis. Details:

  • Arvada, Colorado: The shooting took place in the shopping district of Olde Town Arvada Monday afternoon, reports the Denver Post. Officer Gordon Beesley, a 19-year veteran, responded to a call about a suspicious incident near the local library, and reports of gunfire came in to 911 soon after. Beesley, an unidentified man with a gun, and a third person described by police only as a male "Samaritan" were fatally shot. Police have not yet provided details about what happened.

  • St. Louis: Police say three victims identified only as men in their 30s were shot to death Monday night, reports CNN. Two died in front of a convenience store and the third collapsed in a nearby schoolyard, say police. Four other victims were injured. Police have not speculated about a motive, and no arrests have been made. CNN, citing stats from the Gun Violence Archive, notes that seven people were killed and another 45 injured in 10 mass shootings over the weekend.
