Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel is a human "symbol of severe weather," having reported from the center of all kinds of storms for more than three decades, notes USA Today. But mighty Hurricane Ian managed to knock him down. As Deadline notes and this video shows, a flying tree branch tripped up Cantore as he attempted to report live from Punta Gorda, Florida.

"Please get this man off the street," tweeted one TV watcher. Cantore himself gave up the live shot and sought safety. Later, he would say: “This is one of the worst hurricanes I have ever been in. It may be the worst in terms of covering over 25 years and 90 storms." As of late Wednesday night, more than 2 million people were without power in Florida. The AP has the latest.
