Congress got its first Gen Z member ever on election night, thanks to a win by 25-year-old Maxwell Frost in Florida's 10th Congressional District. But Frost wasn't the only notable victory. CNN runs down other "history-makers" of the 2022 midterms. Here, 10 standouts:

  1. Becca Balint: first woman elected to Congress from Vermont
  2. Katie Britt: first elected female senator from Alabama
  3. Robert Garcia: first out LGBTQ immigrant elected to Congress (California)
  4. Maura Healey: nation's first out lesbian governor (Massachusetts)
  5. Kathy Hochul: first elected female governor of New York
  6. Marcy Kaptur: longest-serving woman in Congress once she's sworn in for 21st term (Ohio)
  7. Wes Moore: first Black governor of Maryland
  8. Markwayne Mullin: first Native American senator from Oklahoma in nearly a century
  9. Alex Padilla: first elected Latino senator from California
  10. Sarah Huckabee Sanders: first female governor of Arkansas
