Barack Obama yesterday blasted John McCain’s attacks on his economic policies by slamming the GOP record as a "disaster," reports the Reno Gazette-Journal. McCain “claimed my economic plan would lead to economic disaster,” Obama said. “I’ve got news for John McCain. My plan is not going to bring economic disaster. We already have economic disaster from John McCain’s president."

McCain “always says, ‘I’m a maverick, I’m a maverick,’” added Obama, speaking in Reno after a week's vacation. Yet “every single one of his top people are lobbyists for the very special interests that have been dominating Washington.” But the Democrat praised McCain’s military record. “I think his policies are terrible. I think his service was admirable,” Obama said in response to a question from the audience. (More Barack Obama stories.)
