Our long national nightmare is over; Paris is out of the slammer. The heiress left the Los Angeles County jail in Lynwood just 15 minutes after midnight today—technically completing a three-week stay—and was swarmed by a crowd of waiting photographers enroute to her parents' black SUV.

Wearing jeans and a sage jacket with white trim, she smiled, waved, and hugged her mom through the window before climbing into the vehicle. Paris will be on probation until March 2009, but she can cut that by a full year if she does some community service, which in her case might include making a public service announcement.
