Sarah Palin sought to ease concerns about her foreign policy experience by holding her first-ever meetings today with heads of state, the New York Times reports. Palin sat down for private conversations with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, and also with Henry Kissinger and national security chief Mike McConnell. "I found her quite a capable woman," said Karzai. "She asked the right questions on Afghanistan."
The press could cover only the initial introductions and the ensuing small talk. Before talking in-depth with Karzai, Palin complimented him on the name of his toddler son, Mirwais, which means "light of the house." She asked Kissinger for insights on Russia, Georgia, and China. Asked how it went afterward, she mouthed the words, "It was great."
