A Maine restaurant has been denied a liquor license over a promotion that encourages skinny dipping in a nearby lake, the Bangor Daily News reports. The offer promised a free sandwich to any diner intrepid enough to strip and take the plunge behind the Black Frog Restaurant. After numerous complaints and three arrests, the town rejected the establishment's liquor license when it came up for renewal.

The owner has since vowed to end the skinny dipping, and now a very public appeal awaits. “That’s a no-brainer,” Leigh Turner said of trading naked patrons for free-flowing booze. One selectman seemed almost sorry. “It really might be a little bit different if he was located on the other side of the mill up the lake,” but the restaurant is at the “hub epicenter” of town, and “he’s breaking the law.” (More Maine stories.)
