Will Obama Change Pop Culture?

Can "No-Drama" Obama cast a spell over Hollywood? After years of bleak television dramas, a Dark Knight superhero, and a James Bond who rarely smiles, some in Hollywood say Obama will inspire an era of optimism. ''The idea of change and hope has permeated the country," says Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, whose development meetings "include the zeitgeist and how it's changed in the last two weeks."

Others remain skeptical. ''Wouldn't it be great, but absolutely not," says Sleepless in Seattle screenwriter Nora Ephron. But presidents like JFK and Ronald Reagan swayed pop culture, and Terminator Salvation director McG has taken notice. He tells Entertainment Weekly about the lighter side of his movie, about a ruthless, post-apocalyptic computer and killer robots. "At the end of the day, our film is really about hope," he says.
