Clark County inmate #2648927—better known as OJ Simpson—is to be sentenced today and probation authorities have recommended he serve at least 18 years, the Las Vegas Sun reports. Simpson was found guilty in October of 11 felonies for ripping off two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel. He stands to get anywhere from 6 years to life for the convictions, which include kidnap and armed robbery.

Simpson's lawyer said his client should receive the minimum sentence because he's a "first-time offender" and "had no criminal intent." He plans to launch an immediate appeal whatever the sentence. Simpson, who the lawyer says is "doing OK" in county jail, will be transferred to a state penitentiary after sentencing.
