Palin Slams Media for 'Salacious' Reports

Sarah Palin attacked the “personal, salacious nature” of media reports about her during the 2008 campaign, accusing journalists of taking her remarks out of context “to create adversarial situations,” CNN reports. A statement from Palin’s office today specifically criticized the Atlantic (probably mostly just Andrew Sullivan) and other bloggers for keeping alive the rumor that Trig was her daughter’s baby.

“As a public official, I expect criticism and I expect to be held accountable for how I govern,” Palin's statement said. “But the personal, salacious nature of recent reporting, and often the refusal of the media to correct obvious mistakes, unfortunately discredits too many in journalism today, making it difficult for many Americans to believe what they see in the media.”
