Two years of improving security for Barack Obama will climax at his swearing-in on Tuesday, the Washington Post reports. The president-elect will address the nation from behind a 5-ton bulletproof curtain as more than 23,000 police and National Guard troops stand guard. Road, river, and air traffic will be shut down for miles—except for Obama, who will ride to the White House in an armored limo stocked with shotguns.

During the election, the Secret Service dealt with a spike in threats and spent a record $110 million. Analysts say protection will only be increased as Obama's presidency continues. “There’s no doubt the security of this president is going to get more attention from the public," said Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan. "It’s going to get no less attention from us."
