A British man convicted of killing his wife after she changed her Facebook relationship status to “single” was sentenced to life in prison today, the Independent reports. Richardson, 41, flew into a “frenzied and brutal attack,” brutally stabbing his estranged spouse to death at her parents’ home and then attempting to take his own life in May.

“Richardson became enraged when Sarah changed her marital status on Facebook to single and decided to go and see her as she was not responding to his messages,” a prosecutor noted. “She had decided that her marriage to Edward Richardson was over, but this was clearly something he could not accept,” explained another investigator.
