Condoleezza Rice appeared on The View today to defend Bush administration policies, and lament a few key mistakes, the Los Angeles Times reports. Rice expressed regret that weapons of mass destruction never surfaced in Iraq—but stands behind the ouster of Saddam Hussein. Rice also said Hurricane Katrina was “one of the greatest disasters for the administration,” but had harsh words for critics of President Bush’s response.

“What really did make me angry was the implication that some people made that somehow President Bush allowed this to happen because these people were black,” Rice said. “And for somebody to say that about the president of the United States, a president of the United States who I know well and … who is my friend, I was appalled and I couldn’t believe people didn’t challenge it.” (More Condoleezza Rice stories.)
