Singer Chris Brown surrendered yesterday to Los Angeles police investigating an alleged assault against girlfriend Rihanna, reports E! Online. Both stars canceled their scheduled Grammy performances yesterday. The incident occurred as the pair became involved in a heated argument in a car. Rihanna, 20, suffered bruises to her face in the confrontation, sources said.
Police did not formally identify the victim. The couple "became involved in an argument," said a police spokesman. "After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated." The victim "suffered visible injuries," he added. Brown, 19, was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, a charge that carries up to four years in prison. Other charges may follow.
