After a wait that felt almost as long as the presidential campaign, the Obamas have decided to adopt a Portuguese water dog, People reports. Her daughters can hardly wait, Michelle Obama said. “So Sasha says, 'April 1st.' I said, 'April.' She says, 'April 1st.' It's, like, April!" the first lady said. “You can't get a new dog and then go away for a week.”

The family will likely select a rescue dog after spring vacation, the first lady said. “The folks that we know who own them have raved about them,” she said of the chosen breed. “So that's where we're leaning.” Naming the pooch might be tough, though. “Oh, the names are really bad,” Obama said of Sasha and Malia's suggestions. “Moose. I said, well, what if the dog isn't a moose?" (More President Obama stories.)
