CNBC Staff 'Furious' at Quiet Cramer

It's been a tough week for Jim Cramer. After his public skewering from Jon Stewart, colleagues at CNBC are "furious" that he didn't put up a better fight, writes media critic Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post. Nobody goes on the record, but Kurtz says many are upset that Cramer didn't accuse Stewart of taking things out of context through the selective editing of clips. For his part, Cramer is telling colleagues he felt "blindsided."

The network—hardly the only financial news organization to stumble ahead of the crisis, notes Kurtz—refused interview requests but said, “We are proud of our record.” As for Stewart, he clearly raised his profile and reputation. He "morphed into a populist avenging angel this week,” Kurtz writes. “People view him now as a truth-teller, not a joke-teller,” adds another media columnist.
