The "Snuggie phenomenon" has blossomed into romance for one New Yorker who ordered a few and fell hard. "Like all relationships, it's hard to chart how this one started," writes Kurt Soller in Newsweek. He ordered two Snuggies and four Slankets—both blankets with sleeves—and preferred Snuggies, which kept him warm through an icy, recession-haunted winter.
"Even if we're not personally feeling the strain, there's a buzz in the air that tells us to stay home, to relax on the couch, to cook our own dinner—to squirrel up and save for a rainy day," Soller writes. "And right now, we just want to be hugged—or Snugged, if you will." (More Snuggie stories.)
