Palin May Create Fund to Pay $500K in Legal Bills

Sarah Palin has racked up more than $500,000 in lawyers' bills defending herself against ethics complaints and may create a legal fund to help pay them off, the Anchorage Daily News reports. The Alaska governor calls the complaints “baseless” and chalks them up to "political blood sport." Six of 10 have been dismissed, one was "resolved," and three are pending, she said.

The complaints range from the highly-publicized Troopergate, to a row over spending on her kids’ travel, to a complaint filed under a soap opera character’s name. Palin made $131,891 last year, and her husband made $86,150 from his two jobs. “Obviously we cannot afford to personally pay these bills,” Palin said. “Some have suggested a legal fund. We'll have to pursue that."
