Bobby Jindal had the privilege of speaking on the same night as Barack Obama again, but this time on a smaller stage. The Louisiana governor, pilloried after delivering the Republican response to Obama's last prime-time address, told a congressional fundraising dinner for the GOP that "it's time to declare our time of introspection and navel gazing officially over," CNN reports.

The GOP now must embrace its role of "loyal opposition" and be ready to stand up to Obama when necessary, he said. Jindal's speech fell by coincidence on the same night as Obama's press conference, and the potential 2012 candidate poked fun at his last effort to rally the troops, notes the AP. "They're not allowed to show my speech at Gitmo anymore," he said. "They've banned that." (More Bobby Jindal stories.)
