Congressional Republicans have replaced Sarah Palin with Newt Gingrich as keynote speaker at their spring fundraising dinner after the Alaska governor's aides flip-flopped over whether she could make it, sources tell Politico. Organizers issued a press release trumpeting her appearance after her political action committee confirmed that she would attend, but her office later said she couldn't commit until Alaska's legislative session ended.

Palin's aides dithered about her attendance both publicly and privately, say planners who didn't want to take a chance as the deadline neared to send invitations. GOP bigwigs are fuming, according to insiders. "She was a disaster," one Republican source told FOX News. "We had confirmation."
