The videogame industry, recently geared toward churning out bigger and bigger blockbusters, is shrinking its ambitions down to iPhone size, the Los Angeles Times reports. Thanks to Apple’s App Store, the iPhone and iPod Touch have become surprisingly popular gaming devices—and developers have taken notice. Electronic Arts, for example, will release 14 iPhone games this year.

“The iPhone has changed everything,” said one EA developer. The industry isn’t just catering to it, it’s aping it. Nintendo’s new DSi handheld will have an online store selling games for as little as $2. Nintendo says its approach is “fundamentally different,” but one analyst says “it’s obvious from their pricing that Nintendo studies what Apple does.” (More iPhone stories.)
