Stephen Colbert has taken up the cause against gay marriage, the Huffington Post reports. A recent web ad from the National Organization for Marriage—which apparently was serious—featured a “rainbow coalition” of actors solemnly declaring, “A storm is coming.” That, and New York's move toward legalizing same-sex marriage, motivated Colbert to start a rainbow coalition of his own.

“Did you know that if all 50 states approve gay marriage, straight marriage becomes illegal?” says one of Colbert’s coalition members. “I like gay people, but only as hilarious best friends in TV and movies,” says another. Colbert’s biggest complaint about gay marriage? “As it is it’s impossible to get a wedding announcement in the Times.” (More Stephen Colbert stories.)
