Buff, Shirtless Obama Graces Mag Cover
In this Aug. 14, 2008, file photo people on the beach call out to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as he heads back into the water while body-surfing in Honolulu, Hawaii.   (AP Photo)

If Barack Obama gets sick of being president, maybe he could work a career as cover-boy beefcake. The Washingtonian, a DC-area style/culture magazine, has plastered a picture of the topless Obama on the cover of its May issue, ABC News reports. The pic supposedly illustrates the No. 2 reason (among 26) to love living in the capital: “Our new neighbor is hot.”

The picture is a paparazzi shot, grabbed during the then-president-elect’s Hawaiian vacation last year. The Washingtonian’s editor-at-large says the mag wanted to highlight Obama’s celebrity appeal. “It’s not a normal way to look at a president of the United States but this is not a normal president,” he said. White House aides were unconcerned, remarking only that Obama looked to be in great shape. (More magazine stories.)
