New Doughnut Puts Krispy Kreme in Sticky Situation
The Iced Dough-Vo Donut, one of the limited offerings from Krispy Kreme's Australian-themed line.   (Krispy Kreme)

Krispy Kreme’s limited edition line of Down Under-themed pastries has prompted an indignant protest from the company that makes a beloved Australian cookie, the BBC reports. The Iced Dough-Vo is a tribute to Arnott’s Iced Vo-Vo biscuit, says the doughnut company. But Arnott’s sees it as a breach of its trademark for the fondant, jelly, and coconut concoction.

The head of Krispy Kreme’s Australian operations scoffs at the threats of legal action, saying, “I think people know the difference between a doughnut and a biscuit.” The original biscuit is a cookie topped with strawberry jam and pink fondant. The Dough-Vo, which Krispy Kreme has refused to stop selling, is filled with raspberry jam and covered with pink icing. (More Krispy Kreme stories.)
