By steadfastly opposing action on climate change, the GOP is signing its own death warrant, writes David S. Bernstein in the Boston Phoenix. The so-called “Millennial” generation—those born in 1980-2000—is 100 million strong, and doesn’t share Republicans' blasé attitude toward the environment. Says a Harvard analyst, “That’s the scary thing, if you work for the RNC. It absolutely cuts across all the demographics.”
By keeping their heads in the sand, Republicans risk writing off the entire generation, as their predecessors did with African-Americans by opposing civil rights laws. For young people, no issue is more important," says the president of the College Democrats of Massachusetts. "We are going to have to live with the consequences of inaction.”
