A Pennsylvania state trooper who was injured during a police chase and shootout in the Poconos has died, the Express-Times reports. The incident began last night with a custody dispute. When police arrived at a home in Nazareth, Pa., the 31-year-old suspect fled, taking his 9-year-old son with him. The man, whose name hasn't been released, led officers on a 40-mile chase that ended with a crash.

The suspect then exchanged gunfire with the officers. He was killed at the scene, and two troopers were injured, including Joshua Miller, who died this morning. The suspect's son was not hurt. The other trooper, Robert Lombardo, is in satisfactory condition.
