Dr. Conrad Murray, the man at the center of suspicion surrounding Michael Jackson’s death, hired a lawyer before meeting again with police today, the Los Angeles Times reports. But Murray’s attorney says authorities have assured him the cardiologist isn’t a suspect. “We’ve been told more than once that this is not a murder investigation,” Ed Chernoff told the Houston Chronicle.
Chernoff added that police are questioning Murray merely to “fill in the blanks.” Murray was reported to be in hiding, but Chernoff says the doctor “didn’t go anywhere,” “intends to cooperate” with police, and “has nothing to hide.” Noting that Murray tried to resuscitate Jackson, Chernoff said, “I’m sure you could hear him in the background (of the 9-1-1 call).”
