In an absurd world, maybe the only people we can trust are the comedians. A Time.com poll asked readers who the most trusted newscaster in America is, now that Walter Cronkite has passed on. The overwhelming response? Jon Stewart. The Daily Show maestro took 44% of the 9,409 votes, trouncing Brian Williams’ 29%, Charlie Gibson’s 19%, and Katie Couric’s 7%.

One should note that the poll results aren’t scientific; it’s just an online survey of Time.com users, who are probably not representative of the whole country. Still, Stewart's showing is impressive; he took all but 14 states, dominating everywhere from New York to Texas. Couric, meanwhile, took just one state—apparently they love her in Iowa.
